Beni Ourain 03 Moroccan Rug
The large, archaic looking ivory background rug known as the Beni Ourain is the creation of Morocco’s mountain nomads. The thick, but loosely structured rugs were not used as floor covers, but rather as beds and bedding, efficient protection against the winter cold in snowy highland areas. The Beni Ourain Moroccan tribe is made upon 17 Berber tribes who’s sheep produce very high grade quality wool which go into the production of these rugs. The classic Beni Ourain features a network of black lines on an ivory ground,with the oldest rugs exhibiting extremely rich designs.
